Bandits Shoot AIG, Kill Orderly

Bandits operating along Jos-Abuja Expressway shot an Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG), Audu Madaki yesterday evening.

he Assistant-Inspector General of Police (AIG), in charge of Zone 12, Bauchi State, narrowly escaped death after he and his escort were attacked.

Although the fact of the incident is still sketchy, it was gathered that the AIG was attacked along Jos-Abuja Road. He was alleged to have been attacked by bandits.

According to the sources, although the AIG escaped death by the whiskers, he sustained injuries. However, his escort was killed.

The sources said: “Available intelligence indicates that AIG Zone 12 was attacked earlier today along Jos, Abuja Road. He sustained gunshot injury and his escort commander was killed.”

Force Spokesman, CSP Muyiwa Adejobi, is yet to speak on the incident.

Speaking on the incident, the Zone 12 Police Command spokesperson, Thomas Goni, said he was yet to receive details of the attack.

“We are still waiting for the details of the incident. You know it did not happen within our jurisdiction here; it happened in Kaduna Command, so I have been on the line with Kaduna to get the details from them,” he said.

Goni, however, confirmed that the AIG is alive. He added that information about the incident would be made available when details are received from the Kaduna State Command.
