Troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have cleared several terrorist hideouts in Ibi Local Government Area of Taraba State, recovering arms, ammunition, and military uniforms.
The operation, carried out under the ongoing Operation LAFIYA NAKOWA, followed credible intelligence on the presence of terrorists around Badekoshi, Fajul, Kurmi, and Dampar villages.
According to the Brigade’s spokesperson, Lt. Umar Muhammad, the troops encountered the terrorists at Badekoshi village, forcing them to flee following a gun duel. A sweep of the area resulted in the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, one magazine, a round of 7.62mm special ammunition, blank rounds, two fragmental jackets, two military camouflage uniforms, and a Jincheng motorcycle.
The Brigade Commander, Brig. Gen. Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, praised the troops for their professionalism and urged them to sustain the tempo of the operation.
He said the Nigerian Army would continue to work with other security agencies and local communities to eliminate terrorists and restore peace in the state.
