The Police Special Fraud Unit (PSFU), Ikoyi-Lagos, has reaffirmed its commitment to professional excellence and modern policing through a strategic partnership with the Institute of Public Safety and Security in Work Environment to organize a comprehensive capacity-building training for its officers and men.
‎
‎The Commissioner of Police in charge of the Unit, CP Rose Chollom Dung led the initiative, which focused on enhancing the investigative and analytical capabilities of personnel to effectively tackle the growing complexities of financial and cyber-enabled fraud.
‎
‎The training covered critical modules such as emerging investigative trends, forensic analysis, and advanced case management strategies, all designed to deepen officers’ understanding of intelligence-led investigation, evidence preservation, and professional conduct during prosecution
‎
‎In her opening remarks at the training session, CP Dung underscored the importance of continuous professional development within the Nigeria Police Force, describing capacity building as “a vital instrument in ensuring proactive and intelligence-driven policing in an ever-evolving criminal landscape.”
‎
‎According to her, the initiative reflects the PSFU’s sustained effort to reposition itself as a model of investigative integrity and technical competence in handling complex financial crimes.
‎
‎ “Our Unit must continue to adapt to new realities in crime investigation. As fraud schemes evolve, our methods, tools, and mindset must equally advance. This training is not just an academic exercise, it is an investment in the integrity and effectiveness of our officers,” CP Rose Chollom Dung.
‎
‎She noted that improved investigative techniques would guarantee more credible outcomes in high-profile fraud cases and reinforce public confidence in the Unit’s operations and the Nigeria Police Force as a whole.
‎
‎CP Dung expressed deep appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, for his visionary leadership and commitment to the welfare and professional growth of police personnel nationwide.
‎
‎She described the IGP’s focus on capacity enhancement and reform-driven initiatives as “a clear demonstration of his dedication to building a Police Force rooted in professionalism, transparency, and global best practices.”
‎
‎“Under IGP Egbetokun’s leadership, we are witnessing a renewed emphasis on competence, accountability, and continuous learning. This forms the bedrock of a Police institution capable of meeting both present and future challenges,” CP Dung.
‎
‎The Commissioner further acknowledged the Institute of Public Safety and Security in Work Environment for its strategic collaboration and technical support in facilitating the programme. She noted that such partnerships are essential in equipping law enforcement officers with contemporary knowledge required to address emerging threats in the financial and cyber security landscape.
‎
‎Describing the partnership as both timely and impactful, she emphasized that PSFU remains open to more collaborations with reputable institutions and stakeholders in strengthening national anti-fraud mechanisms.
‎
‎ “We must continue to bridge the gap between theory and practice by engaging experts, learning institutions, and industry professionals. This is how we build a resilient fraud detection and prevention system,” CP Dung.
‎
‎In conclusion, CP Dung reaffirmed PSFU’s resolve to ensure that all officers of the Unit benefit from structured and continuous development programmes tailored to meet contemporary challenges in law enforcement, investigation, and prosecution.
‎
‎The Commissioner urged participants to apply the knowledge gained in their day-to-day assignments and to remain ambassadors of professionalism and integrity within and outside the Nigeria Police Force.
‎
‎The event further reinforced PSFU’s reputation as one of the country’s most specialized and reform-minded investigative units, aligning with the broader objectives of the Nigeria Police Force under the leadership of IGP Egbetokun.
