Troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke have arrested two suspected kidnappers in Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State, as the ongoing clearance operation, codenamed Operation Lafiya Nakowa, continues to record breakthroughs.
‎
‎The operation, carried out on 19 September 2025, followed credible intelligence on the activities of criminal gangs in Garau axis of Rafin Taba community. Acting swiftly, troops raided the hideout of the suspects, leading to the arrest of Ibrahim Umaru and Adamu Malam Musa — both said to have terrorised residents with multiple abductions for ransom.
‎
‎Preliminary interrogation revealed the duo’s involvement in several kidnappings, with victims often ferried across Taraba borders into Plateau State, particularly the dreaded Madam Forest, to avoid security tracking.
‎
‎Commander 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their professionalism and commitment, stressing that the arrests reflect the resolve of the Brigade to restore peace and dismantle criminal networks in the state.
‎
‎“The people of Taraba can be assured that our troops, working in synergy with other security agencies, will sustain this momentum until peace and normalcy are fully achieved,” Brig Gen Uwa said.
‎
‎The Army urged residents to remain vigilant and provide timely intelligence to security agencies, while warning criminal elements that their days of terror are numbered.
