‎In a decisive move to clean up the recruitment process of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), the Police Service Commission (PSC) has rolled out a whistle-blowing policy, calling on Nigerians to expose bribery, fraud, and any form of malpractice in ongoing or future enlistments.
‎
‎Announcing the policy, the Commission declared its zero-tolerance stance against corruption, stressing that recruitment into the Force must be “transparent, merit-based, and fair.”
‎
‎“The goal is to uphold the principles of good governance and strengthen our national security by ensuring only the most qualified and upright candidates are enlisted,” PSC said in a statement signed by its spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani.
‎
‎The Commission noted that its actions align with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly Priority Area 2 (National Security) and Priority Area 8 (Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption).
‎
‎“We believe that a credible, professional, and trustworthy Police Force is the cornerstone of national security, and that reporting malpractices is a patriotic duty that directly contributes to a safer Nigeria,” the Commission stressed.
‎
‎Highlighting specifics, PSC urged Nigerians to report cases of:
‎
‎”Solicitation or acceptance of bribes (cash, gifts, or favours) in exchange for recruitment slots.
‎
‎”Manipulation of written, physical, or medical test results.
‎
‎”Falsification of credentials (age, certificates, state of origin).
‎
‎”Sexual harassment or extortion of candidates.
‎
‎”Ghost candidates or inclusion of unqualified persons.
‎
‎”Impersonation during examinations or screenings.
‎
‎”Reports can be made via phone lines: 08065265651, 08059544355, 09159329404, 08035866677, or through email at info@psc.gov.ng, website www.psc.gov.ng, and social media handles @PSCNigeria on X and Facebook”.
‎
‎Ani assured Nigerians that all reports will be treated with strict confidentiality.
‎“Whistle-blowers will be protected from victimisation, intimidation, or retaliation as provided by Nigerian law. Every credible report will be promptly, independently, and thoroughly investigated. Decisive disciplinary and legal action will follow against anyone found culpable,” the Commission pledged.
‎
‎Reiterating its call, PSC declared:
‎“Your courage can make the difference. Together, let us build a better, more professional Nigeria Police Force.”
