The prices of chicken eggs have soared in Warri South and Uvwie Local Government Areas

The price of one chicken egg was sold above the price of one hundred naira in most parts of Warri South and Uvwie Local Government Areas

A market survey by our correspondent indicated that a medium size of a crate of the staple food product was sold for two thousand, six hundred naira and above against the former price of two thousand, three hundred naira.

Similarly a crate of big size of egg was sold for two thousand, eight hundred naira and above against the former price of two thousand, six hundred naira at as the time of filing this report.

Sellers of chicken eggs who spoke to our correspondent, attributed the cause of the increase in price to the mass loss of thousands of chickens to the recent outbreak of suspected bird flu.
