The Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC) has emerged as a standout institution at the recently concluded National Cybersecurity Conference organized by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), clinching two prestigious awards for its trailblazing contributions to digital safety and cybercrime prevention.
At the event, held in Abuja, the Director of the Centre, Commissioner of Police Uche Ifeanyi Henry, was named “Cybersecurity Hero of the Year” in recognition of his exemplary leadership and strategic innovations in combating cyber threats and coordinating high-profile investigations into digital crimes across Nigeria.
The Centre also received the “Best Public Initiative on Cybersecurity” award for its impactful nationwide Cybersecurity Awareness Campaign, which has successfully educated thousands of Nigerians on how to navigate the digital world safely.
The campaign, which included school outreaches, public workshops, and media engagements, has been widely praised for making cybersecurity knowledge more accessible to citizens of all ages and backgrounds.
These honours underscore the growing role of the Nigeria Police Force in protecting the nation’s cyberspace and demonstrate its proactive efforts to stay ahead of evolving threats in the digital era.
Under CP Henry’s leadership, the NPF-NCCC has led several high-profile investigations, dismantled online fraud syndicates, and developed partnerships with both local and international agencies to strengthen Nigeria’s cyber resilience.
Speaking after receiving the awards, CP Henry dedicated the recognitions to the hardworking officers and men of the Centre, reiterating the Police Force’s commitment to “safeguarding Nigeria’s digital frontiers and ensuring that criminals find no hiding place in cyberspace.”
The National Cybersecurity Conference brought together stakeholders from government, the private sector, academia, and international partners to deliberate on emerging threats and strategies for building a more secure digital environment in Nigeria.
The recognition of the NPF-NCCC signals a major boost for law enforcement’s role in shaping national cybersecurity policy and response.
With these latest accolades, the Nigeria Police Force reinforces its message that cybercrime is a national security priority, and that it remains fully committed to protecting Nigerians in both the physical and digital realms.
