The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has recorded another major breakthrough in its nationwide war against illicit drug trafficking with the discovery of a clandestine laboratory producing “Colos,” a synthetic strain of cannabis, in Lagos. The operation also led to multiple arrests and the interception of large consignments of narcotics across several states.

Following months of intelligence gathering, NDLEA operatives on Thursday, October 30, 2025, raided a residential building at Ajao Estate, Isolo, Lagos, where a 30-year-old suspect, Stephen Kelechi Imoh, had allegedly converted his apartment into a production lab for the psychoactive substance.

Recovered items from the laboratory included 16.2 kilograms of freshly produced Colos, 1.7kg of ADB-CHMNACA Cannabinol, 4.5kg of Potassium Carbonate, and 91 litres of Dibromobutane, among other precursor chemicals.

In a related operation, NDLEA officers in Mushin, Lagos, on Saturday, November 1, arrested 28-year-old Afeez Salisu (alias Malu) after recovering 16 compressed blocks of “Ghana Loud” and sachets of designer Colorado products weighing 16.4kg.

Another major bust occurred at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja, where a 20-year-old music artist, Godspower George Osahenrumwen (popularly known as Steady Boy), was arrested while attempting to take delivery of 140 bags of “Loud” cannabis concealed in three cartons of imported bathtubs. The shipment had arrived from New York aboard a DHL flight.
The consignment, weighing 77.20kg, was traced to a drug syndicate involving the artist and his manager, Zion Osazee Omigie (a.k.a. Zee Money), who is currently at large.

Across the country, NDLEA commands intensified their operations with multiple interceptions and arrests:

In Kaduna, 84,710 capsules of Tramadol were intercepted along the Abuja–Jos highway, leading to the arrest of Musa Abdulkarim, 27, in Bauchi. Another suspect, Hamza Musa, 47, was caught with 32,946 bottles of Akuskura, while Saidu Nafiu, 30, was nabbed with 131.5kg of skunk in Igabi LGA.

In Ogun State, operatives arrested Seun Olaniyi (24), Rauf Asogba (28), and Ayinla Adeniyi (50) with 1,779kg of skunk smuggled from Benin Republic.

Edo State officers intercepted two vehicles conveying 1,455kg of skunk in Uhunmwode LGA.

In Ondo, NDLEA recovered 2,829kg of skunk from a female suspect, Mrs. Ige Olarewaju, while another suspect, Samuel Adebayo, was arrested with 737kg.

Additional seizures included 596.4kg of skunk in Bauchi, 532,600 pills of Tramadol and Exol-5 in Kwara, 76.5 litres of Skuchies in Lagos, and 177 grams of Methamphetamine in Taraba.

Meanwhile, NDLEA formations nationwide sustained the War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) campaign through sensitization lectures across schools, workplaces, and communities, including programs at Aroje/Abaa Community High School in Ogbomoso, Amazing Flower Secondary School, Ikorodu, and Government Day Secondary Schools in Sokoto and Jigawa.

Commending the officers for their professionalism and resilience, NDLEA Chairman/Chief Executive, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd.), reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to dismantling all identified drug syndicates.

“We will continue to target and dismantle every drug network operating in any part of Nigeria while ensuring that all their traceable assets are forfeited to the Federal Government,” Marwa vowed.
