Military, security agencies celebrate independence with national parade

As part of activities lined up to celebrate Nigeria’s 62 Independence anniversary celebration, Nigerian Armed Forces led by Guards Brigade Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police, other security agencies as well as Nigerians from all works of life converged at the Eagle Square Abuja to witness a special National parade  commemorating the historic event.

The Independence Anniversary Celebration kick started with Juma’at Prayers at the National Mosque and Inter-denominational church service held at the National Christian Centre to pray for peace and continuous progress of the country.

According to spokesman of the Guards Brigade, Captain Godfrey Anebi Abakpa, “The President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Muhammadu Buhari who was the Reviewing Officer and Special Guest of Honour led other members of the Federal Executive Council to attend the very important event.”

Also present were the Service Chiefs, members of the National Assembly, the Legislature and Diplomatic Community,

students and members of the civil society also graced the special anniversary celebration.

Climax of the event was the display by Nigerian Military School, special Airborne Life Rappelling  landing and Nigerian Air Force Combat Aircraft display in addition to the cultural presentation showcasing Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage. Below are pictures from the very colourful event.
