The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has commiserated with the family, colleagues, and friends of Ms. Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu, a News Anchor, Reporter, and Producer with Arise News Channel, who was killed during an armed robbery at her Katampe residence in Abuja in the early hours of Monday, September 29, 2025.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ajao S. Adewale, described the killing as a “cruel and senseless act that has no place in a sane society,” assuring that the Command will ensure justice is served.

He directed a discreet and comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident and ordered the deployment of intelligence and operational teams to track and apprehend the perpetrators.

While assuring residents of the Command’s commitment to public safety, CP Adewale urged members of the public to support the investigation by providing timely and useful information.

He also advised residents to raise alarms promptly in suspicious situations to help deny criminals the opportunity to execute their plans.

The Command further provided emergency hotlines: 08032003913 and 08028940883 as well as its Complaint Response Unit line, 08107314192, for citizens to report incidents.

The Police extended deep condolences to Maduagwu’s family and the media community, pledging that every effort would be made to bring those responsible to justice.
