The Delta State Police Command has intensified its war against crime, recording major breakthroughs in two separate sting operations that led to the arrest of suspected armed robbers, drug peddlers, and cultists.
‎
‎In Ogwashi-Uku, operatives intercepted three suspected armed robbers in possession of an English pistol loaded with two rounds of live ammunition. Meanwhile, in Agbor, police operatives dismantled a suspected drug syndicate and arrested ten adult suspects, including a hotel owner.
‎
‎According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Edafe Bright, “The Delta Police Command is sending a clear message to criminal elements. The era of unchecked crime is over. We will pursue, arrest, and prosecute anyone involved in these acts of violence and drug trafficking.”
‎
‎SP Bright disclosed that on 17th September, 2025, the Divisional Police Officer of Ogwashi-Uku Division, CSP Israel Okomoyon, led a combined team of officers and vigilantes on a routine patrol. The team intercepted three young men on a motorcycle who were later identified as; Emmanuel Ibekwe (25), Victor Chibuzor (25), and Zakaria Joro (25), all residents of Ogwashi-Uku.
‎
‎According to him, a search conducted on the suspects revealed an English pistol with two rounds of live ammunition. The suspects, police said, could not provide any credible explanation for being in possession of the firearm.
‎
‎“The arrested suspects, along with the recovered exhibits, have been transferred to the State Anti-Kidnapping Squad for discreet investigation,” SP Bright confirmed.
‎
‎He added,”Earlier, on 13th September, 2025, the Eagle Net Special Squad led by SP Danyaya Yunusa, in collaboration with the Nigeria Hunters Forest Security Service (NHFSS), stormed a hotel along the Asaba/Benin Expressway in Agbor.
‎
‎”Acting on intelligence, the operatives arrested ten adult suspects, including the hotel owner, Markwuye Peter of Ifeanchukwu Street, Agbor. A significant cache of illicit drugs was recovered during the raid”.
‎
‎”This operation is a testament to the effectiveness of intelligence-driven policing and collaboration with community security outfits. The suspects remain in custody as investigations continue.”
‎
‎The Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, reaffirmed the Command’s zero-tolerance stance on criminality, stressing that the successes recorded are part of a renewed operational drive.
‎
‎“These breakthroughs underscore our commitment to intelligence-led operations, community collaboration, and rapid response. We call on residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities. Together, we will restore peace and security across Delta State,” CP Olufemi assured.
