The Delta State Police Command has engaged members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in a lecture session focused on cybercrime, law enforcement, and the rights and responsibilities of citizens.
The session, held on October 1, 2025, at the NYSC Orientation Camp, was part of a nationwide initiative directed by the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, to revive educational interactions with corps members across the country.
Representing the Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Edafe Bright, led the interactive session, which aimed to reshape the perspectives of young graduates as they prepare for life after national service.
During the lecture, SP Bright addressed critical issues including cybercrime prevention, police accountability, community policing, and the constitutional responsibilities of citizens.
He emphasized the need for corps members to uphold integrity, avoid criminal behavior, and serve as good ambassadors of the country.
The PPRO also highlighted Section 24 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), which outlines the duties of every citizen, including promoting national unity, respecting laws and institutions, and supporting law enforcement agencies in maintaining peace and order.
In addition, the police provided corps members with official complaint channels and contact numbers for reporting misconduct or rights violations by law enforcement personnel, reinforcing the Command’s commitment to transparency and accountability.
SP Bright urged participants to remain patriotic, law-abiding, and vigilant in their communities, noting that understanding and exercising one’s rights responsibly is key to national development.
