The Anambra State Police Command has intensified surveillance and patrol operations across the state following a wave of panic-triggering voice notes and unverified security messages circulating on social media.
Police authorities said although preliminary checks show no credible threat in the widely shared recordings, the Command has taken “no chances,” rolling out expanded visibility policing, reinforced intelligence gathering and round-the-clock patrols in the locations mentioned in the circulating messages.
Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has ordered Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, Tactical Units and Joint Security Teams to maintain heightened alert levels and sustain aggressive patrols both day and night to reassure residents and deter any potential threat.
The Command urged residents to remain calm, noting that security operatives are fully deployed and committed to protecting lives and property across the state. It also warned members of the public against spreading unverified claims capable of causing unnecessary panic, stressing that such actions could attract legal consequences.
Residents were encouraged to report emergencies or request assistance via the Control Room Hotline 07039194332 or the toll-free emergency line 112.
