As part of its broader reforms to enhance leadership and professionalism within its ranks, the Nigerian Army has commenced a Leadership Awareness and Development Course for Senior Non-Commissioned Officers (SNCOs) of 3 Division and Operation ENDURING PEACE.
The week-long course, which began on 13 October 2025 at the Maxwell Khobe Cantonment, Jos, seeks to strengthen the leadership chain and operational coordination among mid-level Army leaders.
Major General Folusho Oyinlola, General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division and Commander, Operation ENDURING PEACE, declared the course open and emphasized its strategic importance in improving discipline and operational output.
“This course reflects our drive toward leadership excellence and professional growth. The SNCO cadre remains the backbone of the Nigerian Army, serving as the critical link between command and troops,” the GOC stated.
He reaffirmed the Army’s alignment with the Chief of Army Staff’s “Soldier First” philosophy, aimed at developing a combat-ready and mission-focused force.
In his remarks, the Director General of the Nigerian Army Resource Centre, Maj Gen James Myam (rtd), represented by Maj Gen Sanusi Dahiru, stressed that the training forms part of an Army-wide leadership development initiative.
Participants will undergo intensive workshops and lectures designed to broaden their perspectives on command responsibility, decision-making, and mission accomplishment.
