As part of efforts to complement kinetic operations with soft-power strategies, the Defence Headquarters’ Operation SAFE CORRIDOR (OPSC) has sensitized troops of 3 Division and Operation ENDURING PEACE on non-kinetic peacebuilding mechanisms.
The event, held at Maxwell Khobe Cantonment, Jos, on October 14, brought together personnel from multiple security agencies for cross-learning and inter-agency collaboration.
Delivering a lecture titled “Non-Kinetic Pathway to Peace and Security: Operation SAFE CORRIDOR in Perspective,” the Coordinator, Brigadier General Yusuf Ali, said achieving lasting peace requires addressing the ideological and socio-economic factors that fuel insurgency.
“While kinetic means are necessary, non-kinetic engagement helps weaken insurgent networks, foster reconciliation, and reintegrate repentant fighters into society,” Brig Gen Ali said.
He also disclosed that the relapse rate among participants who completed the programme remains below one percent, a testament to its effectiveness.
The General Officer Commanding 3 Division, Major General Folusho Oyinlola, described Operation SAFE CORRIDOR as an invaluable national asset for deradicalization, rehabilitation, and reintegration, noting that “strategic communication ensures operations align with national objectives.”
The programme concluded with an interactive session and souvenir presentation.
