London trained Petroleum Management czar, and immediate past Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa on Local Content Policy and Development, and newly appointed Consultant to the Delta Local Content Agency, Sir Laurence Izegbu has warned oil producing and servicing companies against violating the state laws on Local Content.
Izegbu gave the warning today during his meeting with Oil companies top executives and other stakeholders.
His new role empowers him as a top compliance executive who would now ensure the agency is in compliance with its outside regulatory and legal requirements as well as internal policies and bylaws.
The technocrat hinted that compliance by all companies in the state would ensure a win win gain for all stakeholders.
His new role as a consultant would involve his expertise in the area of compliance, monitoring, conflict resolution and training.
According to him, “We are out to ensure every aspect about the state’s Local content policy law are complied with. If the oil producing and servicing companies play their part, the state local content agency would play their own part and our people would be happier for it.
“There is dire need to ensure that our people are well empowered to take on artisan and tradesmen job.We are here to ensure companies in Delta State adhere to state Local content policy, values and ethical standards.
“Our primary task is to ensure that oil-producing and servicing companies operating in Delta State maintain an indigenous workforce of at least 70%, while also utilizing indigenous contractors and local raw materials for their processing.”
“Show me your expatriate quota. What you cannot do in your country do not try it here because we will expose you” Izegbu warns.
