Two weeks after resumption, Comptroller Nnadi seizes fake $6million in Seme

The customs area comptroller at the Seme Badagry border, Dera Nnadi has recorded huge feats barely two weeks after taking charge of the command.

As a pledge he made upon taking the mantle of office, he has taken swift action to boost inter border economic development, support of border communities, inter agency border patrol/ control and chiefly, curbing illegal smuggling activities in a short record time.

Speaking at the briefing, Comptroller Nnadi also used the occasion to showcase the efforts of his officers and men who in partnership with other security agencies have cracked down on several syndicates who would have sabotaged the economic prosperity of the nation, if not for the astuteness and vigilance of the officers and men of the NCS.

Showcasing their efforts, seizures that were made include the sum of fake $6m(N2.7bn), 1,300 units of 30 litres each of PMS valued at N9,366,045, international passports from Niger, Benin Republic, Togo and Senegal having same images and different names of an European woman. Also Maltese international passports were recovered. Other items seized include 15 cartons of animal antibiotics valued at N576,990 which did not follow the standard checks for importation. Also, donkey skins valued at N11,371,511 and baking flour which was substandard for both importation and consumption by Nigerians.

He also spoke on collaborations with the border communities, security agencies and inter country border patrol to ensure that the forth coming general elections will be conducted peacefully and there would be no means through the Seme/Badagry corridor for any perpetrators of electoral processes to interrupt the procedure through illegal smuggling of anti election material or movement.

The briefing was well attended by heads of the Nigeria Immigration service, department of state security (DSS), Nafdac , Quarantine and men from their commands. Also, members of the press turned up for the event.
