The Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC), DIG Hashimu Argungu has paid glowing tribute to the late Dr. Solomon Ehigiator Arase, former Inspector General of Police and immediate past Chairman of the Commission, describing him as a patriot who lived for justice, fairness, and peace.

Speaking at the Night of Tributes held in his honour, the PSC Chairman said the Commission, the Nigeria Police Force, and indeed the nation had lost “a man who gave his all in service to his country.”

He noted that Dr. Arase distinguished himself as a police officer of repute, a reformer, and a scholar whose leadership style was inclusive, visionary, and impactful.

“His tenure as Chairman of the Commission, though short, was remarkable. He relocated the Commission’s headquarters to its permanent home in Jabi, Abuja, stabilized its operations, and worked to strengthen oversight while fostering trust between the Police and the public,” the Chairman said.

According to Argungu, Arase’s humility, brilliance, and humanity endeared him to colleagues, while his unwavering commitment to professionalism, discipline, and integrity left a lasting mark on the Force.

The PSC Chairman, on behalf of the Board, Management, and Staff of the Commission, extended heartfelt condolences to the late Chairman’s wife, children, and family, praying for God’s strength and comfort.

“Dr. Solomon Ehigiator Arase will be remembered as a shining light in the history of policing in Nigeria. His legacy of service, courage, and excellence will continue to inspire generations,” he concluded.
