The SSA to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa on Local Content Policy and development, Mr Laurence Izegbu has commenced a one- week tour of extractive industries operating in Delta State, where he urged stakeholders to work with their directorate in order to fully realise the vision of Governor Okowa.
Izegbu met with the Chairman of Ovwie Local Government Area in Warri Hon Ramson and the chairman of Delta State Association of Welders. Both parties presented their challenges in assessing contracts with Oil companies within the Delta.
Responding to their plights, Izegbu articulated the objectives and goals of Local content Agency established by Governor Okowa’s administration and assured them that Oil-producing companies would comply with the local content laws as enacted by government.
“Extractive industries operating in Delta State must give priority to Delta indigenes in the areas of employment, contracts and raw materials procurement. It is the vision of the Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa to create prosperity for all Deltans and it is not negotiable.” Izegbu said.
