Chairman of the Police Service Commission, DIG Hashimu Argungu (rtd), has reminded newly promoted senior police officers that their elevation is a call to deeper responsibility, not a reward to relax.
‎
‎“Promotion in the Police is not just recognition of past service, but a call to greater responsibility, discipline and sacrifice,” Argungu said at a grand reception organized by the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) on Thursday, September 25, 2025.
‎
‎Represented by the Commission’s spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani, the PSC boss stressed that promotions remain “merit-driven, transparent and anchored on due process”.
‎
‎He urged officers to wear their new ranks “with humility, renewed vigor, and as worthy ambassadors of the Nigeria Police Force.”
‎
‎Argungu also praised PCRC’s partnership with the Force, describing it as proof that “security is a shared responsibility.”
