‎The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command says its operatives have foiled an attempted kidnap in Kobi Village, Kpaduma III, Asokoro, rescuing two female victims unhurt after a fierce exchange of gunfire with the assailants.
‎
‎Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, who confirmed the incident, said the Command received a distress call at about 9:15 p.m. on Monday, September 15, 2025, and immediately mobilized a crack response team.
‎
‎According to her, the kidnappers, on sighting the operatives, opened fire while using their victims as human shields. “Despite the attackers’ tactics, our operatives engaged them in a hot pursuit, which led to the safe rescue of the two victims without harm,” Adeh explained.
‎
‎She added that two members of the local community vigilante who responded to the scene sustained gunshot injuries. “They were evacuated to the National Hospital where, sadly, one was confirmed dead by a medical doctor, while the other is still receiving treatment and responding to care,” the police spokesperson said.
‎
‎Adeh further disclosed that the operation was personally led by the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ajao S. Adewale, alongside other senior officers.
‎
‎Speaking after the operation, CP Adewale commended the courage of the officers and men who confronted the attackers, while extending condolences to the family of the deceased vigilante. He urged residents to stay vigilant and report suspicious activities through the Command’s emergency hotlines.
