A content developer with a music streaming platform called Meplaylist, Ayodeji Oyenekan has been dragged to court by the police at the Special Fraud Unit, Milverton, Ikoyi, Lagos on a three- count charge of unlawful interception, causing loss of property and fraudulently making use of the electronic unique identification feature of Meplaylist Classic Entertainment Limited for the purpose of conferring economic benefits to himself.
In a suit filed at the Federal High court in Lagos by the Inspector General Of Police on behalf of the owner of Meplaylist Classic Entertainment, the suspect, Ayodeji Oyenekan was alleged to have, sometime in February, 2022 in Lagos did intentionally and without authorization intercept digital infrastructure server hosted with Amazon Web Services, property of Meplaylist Classic Entertainment Limited to commit an offence to wit; unlawful interception and thereby committed an offence contrary to section 12(10 of Cybercrime (Prohibition Prevention etc) Act 2015 and punishable under same section of the act.
That you, Ayodeji Oyenekan sometime in February 2022 in Lagos within the jurisdiction of the court knowingly and without authority caused loss of property to Meplaylist Classic Entertainment Limited, a digital music streaming and distribution platform by altering Amazon Website which restricted rightful owner access to its server and inputted your email address ayodeji.oye@meplaylist.comand built a mobility start up called Hellobikee for the purpose of conferring economic benefits to yourself and thereby committed an offence contrary to section 16 (1) of the cybercrime (prohibition, prevention etc) act, 2015 and punishable under the same section of the act.
That you; Ayodeji Oyenekan sometime in February 2022 in Lagos within the jurisdiction of the court did fraudulently make use of electronic unique identification features of Meyplaylist Classic Entertainment Limited through your email address and built a mobility start up called Hellobikee for the purpose of conferring economic benefit on yourself and thereby committed an offence contrary to section 22 (2) (A) of cybercrime (prohibition, prevention etc) act, 2015 and punishable under section 22 (2) (B) (IV) of same act.
When the case came up for hearing, the accused pleaded not guilty to the charges and was granted bail with the sum of N10m and two sureties that must own landed property in Lagos. He was remanded at Ikoyi prison until the perfection of this bail condition.
