The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) has officially closed the 2025 Joint Task Force Commanders Conference after three days of strategic deliberations aimed at enhancing synergy among security forces.

The high-level meeting, which focused on the theme “Enhancing Jointness Across all Theatres of Operation,” brought together senior military officers, former defence chiefs, and security experts to discuss pressing security challenges and operational strategies.

In his closing remarks, the CDS expressed deep appreciation for the active participation and valuable contributions of attendees, noting that the conference provided a platform for critical reflections on Nigeria’s security landscape and the need for greater inter-agency cooperation.

He emphasized that the discussions and insights gained would strengthen joint operations and improve overall security efforts.

The conference featured presentations from field commanders, former Joint Task Force (JTF) leaders, and defence experts, all of whom underscored the importance of unity, adaptability, and technological advancements in modern warfare. The CDS stressed the need for commanders to foster a culture of collaboration and resource-sharing to enhance operational effectiveness.

“We must prioritize a whole-of-society approach to security, leveraging innovation and technology to counter emerging threats. Our ability to function as a cohesive force remains our greatest strength,” he stated.

Addressing the field commanders, the CDS charged them with the responsibility of adapting to the evolving security environment by refining strategies, improving intelligence gathering, and maintaining strong ties with local communities.

He highlighted the crucial role of community engagement in building trust and fostering cooperation, which are vital for long-term peace and stability.

Furthermore, the CDS reaffirmed the Defence Headquarters’ commitment to investing in the welfare and training of personnel while ensuring the timely provision of essential combat resources.

He extended profound gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his steadfast support of the Armed Forces and security agencies.

He also acknowledged the presence and contributions of former Chiefs of Defence Staff, retired service chiefs, veterans, and all participants who played a role in the success of the conference.

As the conference concluded, the CDS urged all commanders to carry forward the resolutions reached, ensuring that the spirit of jointness translates into field operations. “The challenges ahead may be daunting, but with our collective resolve and dedication, we will overcome them,” he affirmed.

The CDS then officially declared the 2025 Joint Task Force Commanders Conference closed, wishing all participants a safe return to their respective commands.
