The Honourable Minister of Police Affairs, Senator Ibrahim Gaidam, has congratulated the government and people of Yobe State on the occasion of the state’s 34th anniversary, describing the milestone as a moment for both celebration and reflection.
In a goodwill message personally signed by him, the Minister, who has served Yobe in various capacities as Governor, Senator, and now as a member of the Federal Executive Council, expressed deep gratitude to Almighty Allah for preserving the state and guiding its progress since its creation on August 27, 1991.
Senator Gaidam paid tribute to past leaders, founding fathers, and patriots who played critical roles in the state’s creation and development, noting that their sacrifices laid the foundation for the Yobe of today.
He also acknowledged the decisive role of former President General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (Rtd.), whose bold vision established the state 34 years ago.
“As we celebrate this anniversary, we remember with affection our late leaders and heroes who gave their all for the realization and growth of Yobe. Their vision, sacrifices, and struggles built the stepping stones upon which we continue to advance,” the Minister stated.
He urged sons and daughters of Yobe, both at home and in the diaspora, to uphold values of peaceful coexistence, tolerance, and unity, stressing that only in unity can the state consolidate its gains and overcome present challenges.
While noting the trials Yobe has faced over the years, especially in the areas of security and development, Senator Gaidam commended the resilience of the people and called for renewed investments in education, agriculture, healthcare, infrastructure, and human capital.
He further reassured that the Ministry of Police Affairs remains committed to strengthening peace and security in Yobe and across the country, affirming that sustainable development can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace.
“On this historic occasion, I reaffirm my personal commitment and that of the Ministry of Police Affairs to supporting policies that will strengthen peace and security in our state and across the nation,” the Minister said.
The Police Affairs Minister concluded with prayers for Yobe’s continued growth and prosperity, while congratulating its citizens on the anniversary.
