The Director of the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC), Abuja, CP Uche Ifeanyi Henry, has lectured cadets of the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano, as part of the institution’s ongoing Strategic Lecture Series.
‎
‎The lecture, which held on September 13, 2025, focused on emerging cybercrime threats and the urgent need to integrate technology into policing.
‎
‎Receiving the NPF-NCCC boss on behalf of the Commandant, AIG Patrick A. Atayero, MSc (UK), MBA (USA), PSC, the Deputy Commandant commended the initiative, describing it as “a knowledge-driven engagement that prepares cadets for the realities of modern-day policing.”
‎
‎During his presentation, CP Henry and his team of experts dissected critical areas such as OSINT, Digital Forensics, Blockchain Analytics, and Cryptocurrency Investigations. He pointed out the absence of cybersecurity courses in the Academy’s curriculum, stressing that “the inclusion of a general course on cybersecurity, as well as the establishment of a dedicated Department of Cybersecurity, is necessary to position future officers to effectively tackle cybercrime.”
‎
‎The session, according to the Academy, aligns with its mission of producing field-ready and technologically equipped officers capable of addressing Nigeria’s evolving security challenges.
