The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has restated its unwavering commitment to the protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI), stressing that safeguarding such strategic assets remains central to national security and sustainable economic growth.
This commitment was re-emphasized at the 2025 National Security Conference and Awards organized by the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP), held on Tuesday, at the Lagos Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island.
Representing the Commandant General, Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, PhD, at the event, the Lagos State Commandant, Mr. Keshinro Adedotun, said the conference provided “a vital platform for collaboration and reflection on the evolving challenges confronting Nigeria’s security architecture.”
According to him, “The NAOSNP conference continues to stand at the forefront of shaping security discourse in our country. It provides a forum to assess our progress, re-examine our strategies, and recommit to protecting Nigeria’s economic and critical national assets from sabotage and vandalism.”
With this year’s theme, “Securing and Safeguarding Nigeria’s Economic Resources: A Call to Serve,” Adedotun noted that the discussions reflect the urgent need for synergy among security agencies and stakeholders to safeguard key installations that drive the nation’s economy.
He further appealed for greater public support in protecting government installations and other national assets. “Security is a collective responsibility. We must all join hands with the Corps and other security agencies to fight vandalism and protect our shared resources,” he said.
Adedotun also highlighted ongoing government efforts to diversify the economy and strengthen institutional responses to corruption. “The government is doing its best to suppress corruption and invest more in diversification of the economy. The protection of these investments is therefore everyone’s duty,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Commandant General, Prof. Audi, was honoured with the NAOSNP 2025 Award of Excellence for his “all-of-people” approach to leadership, commitment to national asset protection, and innovative strategies in conflict resolution and threat management.
While presenting the award, NAOSNP representatives commended Prof. Audi’s exemplary stewardship in repositioning the NSCDC for more effective service delivery. “His dedication to safeguarding national assets has strengthened inter-agency collaboration and advanced Nigeria’s internal security objectives,” they said.
