The Nigeria Rugby Football Federation (NRFF) has concluded its zonal elections, ushering in fresh representatives from all six geopolitical zones ahead of the federation’s presidential election scheduled for October 18 in Abuja.

In the South West, Wuraola Hussaini emerged victorious, while Onyekachi Ibegbulam secured the South East slot. Emmanuel Godwin will represent the South South, with Salisu Garba elected from the North East, Aliyu Mohammed from the North West, and Pius Longman from the North Central.

They join other board representatives, including Azeez Ladipo and Angulu Suleiman (Athletes’ and Technical Representatives), Dr. Ademola Are (incumbent President, representing NAPHER-SD), Professor Modupeola Olanrewaju Banjo (Association of Former Female Athletes of Nigeria, AFFAN), and a representative of NAWIS.

With this phase of the elections concluded, the stage is now set for the highly anticipated Vice President and Presidential elections. The outcome, observers say, will shape the future direction of rugby administration in Nigeria.
