The General Manager of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, has praised motorists and residents for their resilience and patience as traffic diversions continue around the Ogudu–Ifako Bridge, currently undergoing major rehabilitation.
Speaking during an inspection visit to Ifako, Bakare-Oki reassured road users that the project is being executed under strict international standards and will be completed within the timeline set by the Lagos State Government.
“I deeply empathise with our people over the inconveniences caused by these diversions. But this rehabilitation is crucial to protect lives, strengthen the bridge, and ultimately improve commuting in this corridor,” he said.
The LASTMA boss also commended Lagosians for adjusting their routines to accommodate the diversions, describing their cooperation as a testament to the resilience and collective spirit of the state.
He further applauded LASTMA officers deployed across diversion points for maintaining order and ensuring smooth traffic flow, noting that no negative reports have been recorded against their conduct.
Bakare-Oki urged motorists to remain disciplined and see the temporary discomfort as an investment in the future of Lagos transport infrastructure.
He also reminded the public that LASTMA’s toll-free hotline, 080000527862, is available for reporting traffic obstructions, emergencies, or accidents.
