The Kebbi State Police Command has recorded another major breakthrough in its ongoing fight against violent crimes, with the arrest of five suspects involved in criminal conspiracy, abetment, and possession of motorcycles allegedly procured to aid banditry.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Bello M. Sani, the suspects were apprehended in Kamba town, Dandi Local Government Area of Kebbi State, during a joint patrol operation with vigilante members.

On September 18, 2025, at about 9:30 p.m., operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer of Kamba, SP Bello Mohd Lawal, acting on credible intelligence, arrested four suspects: Saifullahi Suleiman (37), Halidu Adamu (26), Ibrahim Abubakar (37), and Sani Kabiru (22) all residents of Kamba town. They were found in possession of three Honda motorcycles, popularly known as “Boko Haram,” reportedly purchased from Benin Republic for ₦5.4 million.

Investigations revealed that the motorcycles were intended to be delivered to the Lakurawa terrorist group through one Alhaji, a resident of Kangiwa town in Arewa LGA, who is currently at large.

In a related development, one Mubarak Ladan (28), also of Kamba town, was arrested after allegedly offering a bribe of ₦600,000 to the DPO in a bid to secure the release of the suspects. The bribe money was recovered as an exhibit.

The Commissioner of Police has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Birnin Kebbi, to intensify efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects linked to the case.

While commending the DPO and vigilante members for their professionalism and courage, CP Bello Sani urged other divisional heads across the state to emulate the success recorded in Kamba. He reiterated the command’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks, particularly those operating along border communities.

The police further appealed to residents to continue collaborating with security agencies to ensure a safer and crime-free Kebbi State.
