Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, will this week place Nigeria’s policing reforms and counter-crime strategies at the center of global discussions as he represents the country at the Global Public Security Cooperation Forum (GPSCF) holding in Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province, China, from September 16 to 18, 2025.
The forum, convened by the Government of the People’s Republic of China, draws ministers of security, police chiefs, and experts from around the world to confront pressing issues of transnational crime, intelligence sharing, and law enforcement cooperation.
At the heart of the programme, Egbetokun is billed to deliver a keynote on September 18 themed “Combating Transnational Crime and Countermeasures.” His address is expected to highlight Nigeria’s efforts in curbing cross-border criminal networks, police modernization, and regional cooperation in tackling terrorism, cybercrime, drug trafficking, and human trafficking.
The IGP will also engage in bilateral talks with China’s Deputy Minister of Public Security, Mr. Qi Yanjun, on September 15. The meeting is expected to strengthen security partnerships between both nations, with emphasis on intelligence sharing, capacity development, and the deployment of technology-driven policing solutions.
Observers note that Egbetokun’s participation underscores Nigeria’s strategic push to reposition its police force amid domestic security challenges, while aligning with global trends in collaborative policing against organized crime and emerging threats.
According to Force Headquarters, the outing not only reaffirms Nigeria’s standing as a responsible partner in international security, but also reflects the Police leadership’s commitment to intelligence-driven, reform-focused, and globally connected policing.
