‎The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun has met with a delegation of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) led by its President, Afam Josiah Osigwe, SAN, at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
‎
‎The visit centred on the enforcement of the Motor Vehicles (Prohibition of Tinted Glass) Act, 1991, and provided a platform for frank discussions on collaboration, the rule of law, and the protection of citizens’ rights.
‎
‎In a significant gesture of goodwill and respect for ongoing judicial processes, the Nigeria Police Force announced a temporary suspension of the enforcement of the Act, pending the outcome of a Motion on Notice before the Federal High Court, Warri, slated for October 16, 2025.
‎
‎“The Nigeria Police Force has not received any definitive court order halting enforcement. However, in the spirit of mutual respect and consideration for the Nigerian public and the Bar, enforcement has been paused temporarily,” the statement noted.
‎
‎To cement institutional collaboration, a joint Police–NBA committee has also been inaugurated to strengthen synergy between law enforcement and the legal community.
‎
‎The IGP reiterated that “the Force remains committed to enforcing all extant laws with fairness, transparency, and respect for the rights of every citizen.”
‎
‎All motorists are urged to use this window to regularise their documentation and ensure compliance with regulations guiding the use of tinted or shaded vehicle glasses.
