Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his bold economic reforms, visionary policies, and developmental programmes, which he said are reshaping governance and driving sustainable growth across Nigeria.
Governor Okpebholo noted that the Federal Government’s economic support to states has created opportunities for meaningful infrastructural development, citing ongoing construction of flyover bridges and other major projects in Edo State.
“These projects are made possible through the support of President Tinubu,” he said. “I urge all Edo people to continue supporting the President, whose reforms, though tough, are essential for Nigeria’s progress.”
The governor made this known in Benin City during the City Boy Movement empowerment programme, an initiative designed to support over 200 Edo youths.
Speaking at the event, Governor Okpebholo reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering genuine progress across the three senatorial districts of Edo State.
“The previous government claimed to have transformed education in Edo State, but our findings show otherwise. We are changing the narrative. Through our ongoing reforms, school enrollment across the State is increasing, and we are upgrading facilities and learning processes so that Edo children can compete with their peers globally,” he noted.
In his remarks, Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa, urged Edo youths to rally under the City Boy Movement to ensure that President Tinubu secures the highest number of votes in the South-South region in the next general election.
“Edo State belongs to President Tinubu because he is a reliable and decisive leader. With the governor’s performance, opposition in Edo State will soon become history. I call on our youths to stand firm, support this movement, and ensure Edo delivers the highest votes for the President,” Idahosa said.
Also speaking, the Minister of Youth Development, Hon. Ayodele Olawande, praised Governor Okpebholo for his developmental strides, describing the event as a celebration of peace and progress in Edo State.
“The progress we see today began about a year ago with the emergence of a dynamic governor committed to development,” Olawande said, emphasizing that youths remain central to both national and state agendas under President Tinubu’s leadership.
He added: “Nigeria’s youths are its greatest asset. Through various platforms and skill development programmes, this administration ensures young people are empowered to build better futures for themselves and the nation.”
Edo State Commissioner for Education and State Director of the City Boy Movement, Paddy Iyamu, commended President Tinubu for introducing the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), which he said ensures that no Edo child is denied education due to financial constraints.
He also highlighted Governor Okpebholo’s achievements within one year in office, including the construction of 68 new schools, sponsorship of five Edo students to study in China, provision of ₦1 billion in student bursaries, and multiple empowerment programmes for market women and small businesses.
“Governor Okpebholo has delivered impressive results in infrastructure, education, and job creation all within a short time,” Iyamu stated.
Director-General of the City Boy Movement, Francis Oluwatosin, commended Governor Okpebholo for his visionary and result-driven leadership style, noting remarkable progress in education, healthcare, security, and infrastructure across the State.
He further hailed President Tinubu’s economic reforms, describing them as bold and strategic steps toward national restructuring and sustainable development.
“The City Boy Movement is the largest socio-political youth platform in Africa, mobilizing 10 million votes for President Tinubu in 2027 from all 36 states of the federation,” Oluwatosin affirmed.
