In a renewed effort to secure the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the Commissioner of Police, CP Ajao S. Adewale, has ordered an intensive crackdown on criminal hideouts, including uncompleted buildings and abandoned structures across Abuja.
The directive, which took immediate effect, mandates all Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) to intensify patrols and conduct thorough raids within their jurisdictions as part of ongoing measures to prevent criminals from using construction sites as operational bases.
CP Ajao also urged property developers to visit the nearest police divisions to document and profile security personnel, artisans, and labourers working or residing at construction sites before the end of October 2025.
He further instructed that any unidentified persons found on-site after 6:00 p.m. should be apprehended.
Reiterating the ban on scavenging activities (popularly known as *“Baban Bola”*), the Commissioner warned that such acts remain strictly prohibited within the FCT.
He urged residents to promptly report scavengers or suspicious individuals in their neighbourhoods.
Emphasizing that security is a shared responsibility, CP Adewale called on estate associations, community leaders, and residents to cooperate fully with the police by profiling domestic staff and reporting unusual movements or persons in their areas.
Members of the public are encouraged to report suspicious activity through the Command’s emergency lines: **08032003913** and **08061581938**.
