Commissioner of Police (CP) Federal Capital Territory (FCT), CP Wale Ajao Saturday, embarked on a tour of five Police Divisional Headquarters within the territory, in a bid to improve police operations and deepen community engagement.
The CP visited divisions in Garki, Apo, Asokoro, Jabi, and Wuse.
The visits provided an avenue for the Commissioner to assess policing efforts on the ground, interact directly with officers, and listen to residents’ concerns about security in their communities.
A statement issued by Josephine Adeh, FCT Police Public Relations Officer, noted that the tour reflects the Commissioner’s commitment to building a professional, accountable, and community-oriented police force.
Addressing officers during the visit, Ajao emphasized that professionalism, discipline, and respect for human rights are non-negotiable values in modern policing.
He urged personnel to carry out their duties with fairness and uphold the rule of law, adding that public trust is earned through ethical and consistent behaviour.
He also warned against unprofessional conduct, including extortion, improper use of social media, incivility, and poor dressing, stressing that such practices damage public confidence and the image of the Force.
Ajao announced plans to hold one-on-one lectures with field officers to provide practical guidance and reinforce accountability.
He also revealed his intention to move around the city frequently to personally monitor operations, ensure compliance with standards, and motivate officers through direct supervision.
The Commissioner encouraged deeper community engagement, noting that effective policing depends on mutual trust and collaboration.
He called on residents to support the Police with credible information and work with the Command to promote peace and security in the FCT.
Reassuring FCT residents, Ajao reiterated his dedication to proactive, people-centered policing that upholds the rights and dignity of all citizens.
