The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Commissioner of Police on Thursday hosted an emergency G-7 security meeting in Abuja to tackle the growing wave of cross-border crimes and related security threats.

The meeting, held at the Police Resource Centre, Jabi, brought together Commissioners of Police from the six states surrounding the FCT: Niger, Kogi, Kaduna, Benue, Nasarawa, and Plateau alongside State Directors of the Department of State Services (DSS) and Commandants of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

The G-7 security architecture, which unites the FCT and its neighboring states, reviewed ongoing operations against crimes such as kidnapping, banditry, human and drug trafficking, arms proliferation, car theft, religious extremism, and the rising influx of destitute persons into the FCT.

Deliberations also explored both kinetic and non-kinetic strategies to re-strategize and strengthen security responses across the region.

At the end of the meeting, the security chiefs reaffirmed their commitment to intelligence-driven, collaborative measures to safeguard residents of the FCT and surrounding states.

Residents were urged to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the Police via emergency numbers: 08032003913, 08061581938.
