Minority leader of Nigeria’s House of Representative, Rt Hon. Godwin Ndudi Elumelu has donated four Electric wheelchairs to physically challenged persons in Delta.
The automated wheel chairs were presented at his constituency office in Asaba, by member Representing Aniocha South constituency in the state house of Assembly, Hon Augustine Chikezie.
While presenting the motorized wheelchair to the beneficiaries, the lawmaker said that it has becomes a life style of Hon Elumelu in ensuring that persons with disabilities are not left out in scheme of things.
Hon chikezie said the gift was birthed barely one month after encounter between Elumelu and some persons with physical challenges seeing their struggle and energy being exhausted on daily basis using the manual wheelchair to go about their daily businesses.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr. Austin Juwe from Obomkpa town, while expressing his joy lauded Rt Hon Elumelu and prayed he succeeds in his political journey.
They all pledged their full support to ensure his victory at the poll come 2023 election.
Other Beneficiaries are: Philomena Kowean from Oshimili South LGA, Miss Anthonia Onwueme Chiamaka From Ezi, Aniocha North LGA and Onwueme Ozoemenem from Ejeme-Aniogor, Aniocha South LGA.
Present at the event were former chairman Aniocha South LGA, Hon Joe Adigwe, Hon Bar, Tony Okeibunor amongst others.
On his twitter handle immediately after the donation, Elumelu said: “I was privileged to donate four Automated wheelchair to four physically challenge persons in my constituency. The Items were presented on my behalf by Hon Augustine Chikezie member of Delta State House of Assembly.”
Findings showed that typically, the cost of an electric wheelchair can range anywhere from around $1,000 to $15,000. This depends on the brand, quality, size, features, and requirements. However, the average electric wheelchair for the regular user can be expected to be priced at around $2000 to $3000.
