The Chairman of the Nigeria Union Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council, Comrade Mike Ikeogwu has called on the various political parties and their candidates in the state not to see elections as a do or die affair.

Comrade Ikeogwu gave the admonition when members of the NUJ, Ika Chapel, led by Comrade Christian Ogoh, paid a courtesy visit at his country home in Ute-Owerre in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State.

Before the election we have been together and after the elections we will still be together as a ple that is why we must continue to strengthen those factors that unites us as a people and downplay what divides us.

“Election is not a do or die affair, if you don’t win today, there are chances that providence will smile at you next time that is what sportsmanship entails” Ikeogwu stated.

The NUJ chairman used the occasion to charge journalists in the state to always take to heart what concerns their colleagues.

“We must get the understanding of the fact that nobody will market or sell our product for us. Most of us go about laundering other people’s image leaving affairs that concern us unattended to.

“We must develop the habit of showing interest in what goes on around us as journalists,” he stated.
