Delta Police Neutralise Deadly Robbery Syndicate, Arrest Suspect, Recover Guns, Lexus Jeep

‎The Delta State Police Command has recorded major breakthroughs in its sustained onslaught against violent crime across the state, with the arrest of an armed robbery suspect and the elimination of a notorious robbery–murder–rape syndicate operating within the Ughelli axis.

‎In a statement on Friday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, said the coordinated operations, carried out under the strategic leadership of Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, led to the recovery of several firearms, live cartridges, and a Lexus 350 Jeep snatched from victims.

‎”Deadly Ughelli Syndicate Neutralised
‎Acting on credible intelligence, operatives of the CP Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT) stormed a criminal hideout around Panama Layout, Ughelli, on 19th November 2025. Four suspected members of a violent syndicate — Peter Ejenekevwe (aka Calamity), Clever David, Chukwuemeka Gospel Onuchukwu, and Onome Collins — were arrested.

‎”During interrogation, the suspects confessed to the robbery and murder of one Anthony Igoroko Omowho on 11th November in Ekredjebor. They also admitted to attacking a POS operator and her husband, injuring victims and raping an 18-year-old girl.

‎”A follow-up search in the bush led to the recovery of two locally made long guns, three short guns, 23 live cartridges, and two Lexus Jeep keys which enabled the recovery of the victim’s vehicle (Reg No. KUJ 788 DR).

‎”The operatives were later ambushed by fleeing gang members but repelled the attack. The arrested suspects were fatally injured during the exchange and confirmed dead at the hospital. One police officer sustained injuries and is receiving treatment,” SP Edafe stated.

‎According to him, in a separate incident, operatives of Agbarho Division, working with the local vigilante group, arrested 19-year-old Victor Peculiar for his alleged role in an armed home invasion at Uvwiama New Layout. A locally fabricated double-barrelled gun was recovered.

‎CP Abaniwonda commended the operatives and reiterated the Command’s zero-tolerance for violent criminality. He urged residents to remain vigilant and provide credible intelligence to the police.
