The Delta State Police Command has recorded significant successes in its fight against crime, arresting several suspected criminals and recovering firearms in separate operations across the state.
These efforts underscore the commitment of the Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, to ensuring the safety of residents and maintaining law and order.
In a statement signed today and made available to journalists by the Police Public Relations Officer
Delta State Command, Asaba, SP Edafe Bright, he remarked the arrest of suspected Armed Robbers and Recovery of Firearms
On January 17, 2025, during operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) conduct of stop-and-search operation along Ibusa Road in Asaba.
“A tricycle with registration number 99VG carrying two occupants, Ogochukwu Stephen (25) and Christian Emmanuel (24), was intercepted. During the search, two rounds of live 9mm ammunition were discovered. Further investigation led to a search of their premises, where two fabricated Beretta pistols and one improvised firearm were recovered. The suspects are currently in custody, and investigations are ongoing.”
According to the statement acting on intelligence, officers from the Agbarho Division raided the residence of a 40-year-old suspect, Eriga Enyuche, on January 17, 2025. A search revealed a G3 rifle, a pump-action gun, and a cutlass concealed in the ceiling of his apartment. The suspect was taken into custody along with the recovered weapons, and further investigation is underway.
SP Bright further revealed the arrest of Cultist and Recovery of Fabricated Beretta Pistol
Following reports of suspected cultists displaying weapons in Bomadi.
He explained that officers from the Bomadi Division, in collaboration with local vigilantes, apprehended a prime suspect, Felix Emizibo (29), on January 18, 2025. A fabricated Beretta pistol was recovered during the operation. Preliminary investigations revealed the suspect had purchased the weapon from his uncle for ₦150,000. He is now in custody, and investigations are ongoing.
CP Olufemi Abaniwonda commended the officers and men of the command for their dedication and professionalism in ensuring Delta State remains safe.
