Nigeria’s Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Mohammed Matawalle has blasted the night raid on Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School, Maga, describing the attack as “totally unacceptable and a direct affront to national security.”
The horrifying assault in the Zuru Emirate of Danko/Wasagu LGA left Vice Principal Malam Hassan Yakubu Makuku dead and 25 students whisked away by armed bandits.
In a strongly worded reaction, the Minister said President Tinubu has already issued strict directives for a full-scale rescue operation.
“The government, led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has directed that the state’s security apparatus swing into immediate action to ensure the abducted students are released unharmed.”
Matawalle urged security agencies to act urgently and jointly, insisting that the perpetrators must not escape justice.
He also appealed for calm:“Residents should remain calm and go about their business while government and security agencies address the situation.”
The Minister offered condolences to the families affected, praying for divine comfort for the slain Vice Principal’s loved ones.
“I pray to Allah to grant him mercy, a peaceful resting place…”
