The Better Nigeria Movement (BNM) has congratulated the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa on his 100 days in office.

The group noted that since his appointment on June 23, 2023, General Musa has demonstrated a high level of professionalism and competence in the discharge of his duties.

According to its coordinator, Oluwapelumi Olayemi Esan, “We commend his exemplary leadership and dedication to the security and stability of our nation.

Since his appointment on June 23, 2023, General Musa has demonstrated a high level of professionalism and competence in the discharge of his duties. He has given operational directives to the Nigeria Armed Forces through the service chiefs and reported to the commander-in-chief with administrative supervision of the Honourable Minister of Defence.

“The CDS had assured Nigeria of its commitment to put an end to the security challenges facing the country.

“Since he assumed office, the Nigerian military has recorded significant achievements in the fight against various security threats facing the country. Some of these achievements include:

“Under the Chief of Defence Staff’s leadership, there has been a significant reduction in the activities of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in the Southeast region which has impacted more positively on the economy. His strategic approach and collaboration with other security agencies have contributed to a more stable environment in the region. The CDS has ensured that the military respects human rights and engages in dialogue with stakeholders to address the root causes of the agitation.

“The reduction of the impact of bandits and Boko Haram, who have been terrorizing the northwest and northeast regions respectively. General CG Musa’s leadership has deployed more troops and equipment to these areas and intensified intelligence gathering and collaboration with other security agencies.

“The Chief of Defense Staff’s efforts in mitigating the impact of terrorists and bandits have not gone unnoticed. His dedication to safeguarding the lives and properties of Nigerians is evident in the decline of these threats in various parts of the country.

“In Southern Kaduna, Operations have also been expanded to close some gaps to stop terrorist activities in some local government of the region

“The fight against oil thieves, who have been depriving Nigeria of trillions of naira in revenue. The CDS has supported the efforts of the Nigerian Navy and other maritime agencies to patrol and secure the nation’s waters and oil installations.”

She added: “These achievements are remarkable and commendable, considering the challenges and constraints that the CDS inherited from his predecessors. We appreciate his courage and commitment to restoring peace and order in our land.

“We urge General Musa to continue to do more in the next phase of his tenure. We assure him of our support and cooperation as he strives to fulfil his mandate. We also call on all Nigerians to rally behind him and the Nigeria Armed Forces as they defend our sovereignty and integrity. The challenges facing our nation require a collective effort, and we must stand united in the face of adversity. Together, we can create a safer and more prosperous Nigeria.

“We are confident that with General Musa at the helm of affairs, Nigeria is in safe hands and that if he can achieve all these in 100 days, what the future holds is indescribable.

“As we commend the Chief of Defense Staff for his outstanding performance in his first 100 days in office, we also implore the government and relevant authorities to continue providing the necessary resources and support to ensure the success of his security strategies.”
