The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court, Nyanya, presided over by Justice A.Y. Shafa, today resumed hearing in the libel case filed by Prophet Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin, founder of Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministry, Warri, Delta State, against popular YouTuber and social media personality, Mr. Martins Vincent Otse, known as “VeryDarkMan” (VDM).

In today’s proceedings, VDM’s counsel, Mr. Ademola Adedokun, conceded to the plaintiff’s request for a status quo injunction, pledging that his client would refrain from publishing further allegedly libelous content against Prophet Fufeyin across Facebook, YouTube, and other social media platforms.

The court heard all pending applications, including Prophet Jeremiah’s motion and VeryDarkMan’s preliminary objections, and reserved its ruling until July 2, 2025.

According to the statement of claim filed by Prophet Jeremiah’s lead counsel, Mr. Joel Karatu, in July 2024, VeryDarkMan allegedly published several defamatory videos and posts portraying the prophet in a negative light, causing significant reputational damage among church members and international business associates.

During the session, human rights lawyer Mr. Ihensekhien Samuel Junior, representing Prophet Fufeyin, highlighted that VeryDarkMan had persistently defamed the prophet, his wife, and his ministry across multiple social media channels, despite ongoing legal proceedings.

In response, VDM’s lawyer, Mr. Ademola Oyedokun, assured the court that his client would desist from making any further defamatory statements pending the outcome of the case.
