Barely 24 hours after assuming office as the Customs Area Controller of Apapa Port Command, Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba has set a new record in revenue collection, pulling in ₦20.1 billion in a single day.
According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Superintendent of Customs John Tunde Ayagbalo, the feat was achieved on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, using the Unified Customs Management System, popularly known as B’Odogwu.
The ₦20,156,077,098.56 collection surpassed the previous daily record of ₦18 billion, setting a new benchmark for the flagship command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).
In his reaction, Comptroller Oshoba linked the achievement to the commitment of officers and stakeholders in Apapa, while urging them to raise the bar even higher.
“I commend my team and stakeholders for this great milestone of ₦20.1 billion collection in one day just 24 hours after I resumed here. It’s not the time to clap yet because clapping means removing your two hands from work to celebrate,” he said.
Oshoba, who took over leadership of the Command on Monday, said the record was only “the beginning of greater exploits.”
“Let’s leave the celebration and applause for days ahead when we shall have future achievements of surpassing targets, curbing any attempted smuggling or concealment, and treating trade with productive speed without compromising our integrity. I believe in action, which speaks louder than words,” he added.
He stressed that the use of B’Odogwu had become a necessity in modernising customs administration in Nigeria, with the potential to strengthen the country’s economic position and trade facilitation.
Earlier, the Comptroller had met with senior officers of the command, commending their past achievements and charging them to “increase their tempo of productivity.”
“Outstanding results are the real proof of hard work, dedication and an uncompromising disposition to duty. I believe you can do better than you did before my arrival,” he told them.
Oshoba also urged stakeholders to sustain compliance with trade regulations, assuring that their collective efforts would continue to “resonate positively on the Nigerian economy.”
