The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has charged troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to sustain their courage, professionalism, and dedication as they work to restore peace across the North-West.

The Army Chief delivered the message on Thursday during his maiden operational visit to the operation’s Area of Responsibility in Gusau, Zamfara State a zone that has remained critical in the nation’s ongoing security fight.

During his address, Lieutenant General Shaibu praised the troops for their resilience and sacrifices despite the complex security challenges confronting the region. He assured them that the Army leadership remains deeply committed to addressing both operational needs and welfare concerns.

According to him, he had earlier received a detailed briefing from the Theatre Commander on the evolving security situation and the challenges troops face daily on the frontline. He added that issues raised by personnel from the land and air components along with submissions from representatives of the Chiefs of Naval and Air Staff are already receiving prompt attention.

The COAS reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to enhancing troop welfare, emphasizing that motivation, equipment, and improved support systems remain top priorities under his leadership.

He urged the troops to maintain discipline and professionalism, noting that their efforts continue to bring relief and stability to communities across the North-West.

“These challenges are transient. Remain resolute, remain determined, and continue to do your job with professionalism. The Nigerian people appreciate your service,” he told the soldiers.

Lieutenant General Shaibu also commended the strong inter-service collaboration driving current operations and assured troops that the military leadership is fully committed to improving their working conditions and operational effectiveness.
