The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, on Monday ordered troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA to step up the search-and-rescue mission for students abducted from Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School (GGCSS), Maga, in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

Gen. Shaibu, who issued the directive during an operational tour of the state on 17 November 2025, charged frontline commanders to adopt aggressive, intelligence-led strategies and maintain an unbroken pursuit of the kidnappers.

“We must find these children. Act decisively and professionally on all intelligence. Success is not optional,” he told the troops, urging a sustained day-and-night operation until the girls are safely rescued.

The Army Chief also met with local vigilantes and hunters, describing them as essential partners in the mission. He encouraged them to work closely with troops and use their deep understanding of the terrain to track criminal elements. “Together, we will restore peace and ensure children can attend school safely,” he said.

Earlier in his visit, Gen. Shaibu paid condolences to the Traditional Ruler of Danko, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Allaje, and the Principal of GGCSS Maga, Hajiya Rabi Musa Magaji. He reassured them of the military’s unwavering commitment to rescuing the abducted students unharmed.

The COAS further urged soldiers to remain disciplined and professional while operating strictly within the rules of engagement, reaffirming the military’s resolve to restore peace to Kebbi State and its environs.
