‎The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Adewale Adeniyi, has declared that the Service will sustain its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects while continuing to support sister government agencies.
‎
‎Speaking in Abuja on Thursday, September 25, 2025, during a courtesy visit by the Chairman of the Civil Service Commission, Professor Tunji Olaopa, Adeniyi emphasized the importance of collaboration and institutional friendship.
‎
‎“In our private discussions and what we have seen here, it is obvious that it is good to maintain good neighbourliness. For us, this visit represents the expression of continued friendship and cooperation that we have enjoyed over the years,” he noted.
‎
‎The CGC highlighted Customs’ recent CSR initiative, recalling that in the first quarter of 2025, the Service adopted a secondary school in Wuse where more than 2,000 students benefited from new learning tools and equipment. According to him, the school’s assembly hall is also being remodelled, alongside the installation of solar facilities under Customs’ 2025–2026 projects.
‎
‎“Many of our officers began their careers in Wuse, and our professional history is not complete without reference to that community. We still see ourselves as part of the Wuse community and are committed to giving back,” Adeniyi stated.
‎
‎On operational support for the Commission, he said: “We may not be able to do everything at once, but the most important thing is our commitment to assisting sister agencies.”
‎
‎Professor Olaopa, responding, applauded the Nigeria Customs Service for its record in reforms and revenue generation.
‎
‎“We are proud to be associated with the incredible strides that the Nigeria Customs Service has demonstrated. The President himself acknowledges the innovations brought to revenue generation, and we consider Customs a model for other agencies,” he remarked.
‎
‎He added that the Commission had just rolled out its strategic plan and would seek deeper collaboration with Customs, especially in CSR and infrastructure development.
‎
‎The meeting closed with both agencies pledging to strengthen ties in the drive for national progress.
