In a bid to deepen grassroots inclusion and enhance democratic governance at the local level, the Executive Chairman of Aniocha North Local Government Area, Hon. Emma Bazim Chinye, on Wednesday held a strategic meeting with his political aides, committee members, and the Aniocha North Legion of retired soldiers.
The meeting, held at the council headquarters, marked a key moment in the Chairman’s administration as he announced a major restructuring aimed at creating space for broader participation in governance.
The move, he explained, is in response to recent political developments in the state and the need to foster unity and synergy across all levels of government.
Hon. Chinye began by expressing gratitude to his aides and grassroots political allies for their unwavering support throughout his one-year tenure, during which he said over 70% of Aniocha North communities had witnessed tangible development projects under his leadership.
“We’ve achieved a lot together over the past year, but there’s a need to restructure and bring more people on board.
“This is to accommodate those who have not yet benefitted, and to strengthen unity and inclusivity across our political landscape”, the Council Chairman said.
He announced the immediate dissolution of all political appointments and committees under his administration, explaining that the restructuring process was necessary to align with the new political reality, particularly the full alignment of the Delta State political structure with the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The restructuring, he noted, will allow the administration to remain inclusive and democratic, while creating room for fresh participation from previously underrepresented stakeholders.
While acknowledging that not all former appointees may be reinstated immediately, Hon. Chinye assured that alternative empowerment programmes were being developed to ensure that loyal supporters would still benefit from government initiatives.
He also took time to interact directly with attendees, emphasizing the advantages of political alignment across the federal, state, and local levels under the APC, particularly in ensuring seamless access to development funds and programmes.
Responding to inquiries about pending empowerment applications, he explained that most of the schemes were federal or state initiatives still undergoing data verification and processing.
He urged patience and continued support for Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, crediting the governor’s leadership for enabling many of the council’s successes.
He also called on constituents to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to maintain synergy and advance developmental goals.
Attendees expressed strong appreciation for the chairman’s leadership, frequently breaking into songs of praise during the meeting to commend his commitment and achievements within a short span.
Later in the day, Hon. Chinye met separately with the Aniocha North Legion of Retired Soldiers.
He restated the achievements of his administration so far and explained that the planned structural adjustments would position the council to deliver even more infrastructure and social support.
The Chairman of the Legion lauded the Council Boss for extending benefits to retired military personnel out of goodwill, pledging continued support and alignment with the administration’s vision. Other members of the Legion echoed similar sentiments, offering prayers for the Chairman’s strength and success.
Hon. Emma Bazim Chinye reaffirmed his unwavering dedication to the vision of rebuilding Aniocha North, promising to push for M.O.R.E G.A.I.N.S (Massive Opportunities, Reforms, Empowerment and Growth Across Infrastructural Needs and Services) with Renewed Hope for the people of the local government area.
