The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has issued a strong warning to social media influencer Mr. Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, cautioning him against making comments or engaging in activities that could incite public unrest or disturb the prevailing peace in the state.
This follows developments surrounding the recent passing of Mr. Ifesinachi Onyekere, Managing Director of Fish Magnet outlet, whose family has openly dissociated themselves from any candlelight procession or memorial being planned in his name. According to the police, the family has appealed for privacy as they mourn, and called on the public to allow law enforcement agencies to carry out their investigations without interference.
In a statement issued through the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the CP reaffirmed that Anambra remains one of the most peaceful states in the region, attributing this to the synergy between the Police, other security agencies, and key stakeholders.
“No individual, regardless of social standing or influence, will be allowed to jeopardize the peace and security of the state,” CP Orutugu declared.
He urged residents and visitors to continue with their lawful activities without fear, assuring the public of the Command’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property.
The Police further cautioned social media personalities and the general public against spreading misinformation or making inciting statements capable of undermining public order. Anyone found guilty of such actions, whether online or offline, will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
