The Anambra State Police Command has arrested two suspected members of a notorious kidnapping gang linked to a recent case of kidnapping, armed robbery, and attempted murder in Umudioka, Dunukofia Local Government Area.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the suspects—Onele Solomon (a.k.a. Federal) and Simeon Chidera (a.k.a. Chaplet), both 23 years old were apprehended by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad in the early hours of June 25, 2025.
The duo and other fleeing accomplices reportedly lured victims under the pretense of selling land before abducting them. On May 31, 2025, they allegedly kidnapped a man, robbed him of his possessions, inflicted machete wounds, and held him captive while demanding ransom. The victim later managed to escape and reported to the police.
Following the arrests, police have launched further operations to track down remaining gang members and dismantle the criminal network.
