Nigeria’s new Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has unveiled what he described as a “Smarter and Harder Warfare Strategy” a recalibrated approach aimed at delivering more precise, intelligence-led, and technology-driven air operations across all theatres of combat.

The move follows a high-level meeting convened on Wednesday at the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Headquarters in Abuja, where Air Component Commanders from across the country were summoned to chart a new operational direction under the current leadership.

In a firm directive that underscored urgency and accountability, Air Marshal Aneke charged commanders to “fly smarter and strike harder,” ensuring that every sortie produces tangible impact against insurgents, terrorists, and criminal groups destabilizing the nation.

“We must fly smarter and strike harder not just to neutralize threats but to protect the lives and properties of Nigerians,” Aneke declared. “Every mission must reflect professionalism, purpose, and patriotism.”

He emphasized that modern warfare now demands precision and intelligence, calling for greater synchronization between air, land, and maritime components to secure joint mission success. The CAS assured that inter-service collaboration would be deepened to achieve seamless operations nationwide.

Beyond combat efficiency, Air Marshal Aneke reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to personnel welfare, innovation, and continuous training. “Every airman and airwoman has a role to play in achieving our collective vision. I will ensure you are equipped, trained, and motivated to deliver results,” he pledged.

He further noted that the Air Force will maintain discipline, professionalism, and adherence to international standards while applying decisive force against those who threaten national security.

“The Nigerian people, government, and international partners expect nothing less from us,” he added. “The safety and confidence of our citizens are our mission success indicators and Nigeria is counting on us.”

The strategic session, seen as a clear signal of the Air Chief’s operational intent, marks the beginning of a new era in Nigeria’s aerial warfare one anchored on precision, intelligence, and unwavering resolve to restore peace and stability across the country.
